Automotive supplier Mann+Hummel plans to fill 100 production operator and material handler jobs for its Dunlap, Tennessee, manufacturing plant as the company sees an uptick in business.

The plant, which makes auto filtration products such as manifolds and air boxes, currently employs more than 300 people and produces parts for Ford, Nissan, General Motors, BMW and other brands.

Hourly pay begins at $11 and includes a 30-cent shift differential if assigned to second or third shift. An additional $3 per hour in “COVID-19 pay” is added to base wage temporarily, according to the company.

“With the challenges surrounding the local job environment the past few months, we are excited to be hiring at our facility and eager to bring new talent from the surrounding Chattanooga areas,” said Laura Clark, a human resources official. “We have multiple opportunities available for individuals who are looking for a longterm career with a reputable automotive supplier.”

Clark said the plant furloughed employees on March 30 during the coronavirus outbreak and then recalled them June 1. Since then, business has come back strong, she said.

“Then it was just pedal to the metal,” Clark said. “Sales increased by a lot.”

She said the company has acquired new business that will generate more positions for most of the 100 jobs. The remainder will fill existing open slots, Clark said.

The company is seeking candidates with a high school diploma or GED and two years of manufacturing experience. Fulltime positions are available with benefits such as paid time-off, 401(k), and quarterly bonuses starting on the day of hire, the company said.

Mann+Hummel is hosting a hiring event on Aug. 12-13 from 10 a.m.2 p.m. with on-the-spot interviewing and hiring. The event will be held at the plant at 260 Resource

Road in Dunlap.

According to the company, Mann+Hammel decided to open a factory in the South coming out of the Great Recession to be located closer to many of its customers as more automakers opened assembly plants in the region.

Officials at the company said Alabama was strong in its pursuit, but Tennessee stepped up as the company made its decision to open its factory in Dunlap.
