RINGGOLD - William Robert Thompson, age 48, a native son of Ringgold, Georgia, suddenly and unexpected­ly returned to his heavenly home on July 10, 2020. William was a gentle and kind man and was always there to listen and talk to anyone who needed a sympatheti­c ear. He loved animals, music, and the Georgia Bulldogs. William was a great friend to all who knew him, and he loved to laugh. His fondest memories were of the times he spent as a trombone player for the Ringgold Marching Tiger Band.

William was born on July 22 , 1971 to Martha and Johnny Thompson. William grew up, lived, and worked much of his early life in and around Ringgold, Georgia where he graduated from Ringgold High School in 1989. William attended church with his family and was baptized at Boynton Baptist Church and he was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Chattanoog­a, Tennessee. Upon graduation from Ringgold High School William attended Dalton State College and then the Mercer University College of Pharmacy, where he graduated as a Doctor of Pharmacy in 1995. William worked and lived in the Chattanoog­a area until he moved with his wife, Rebecca “Mira” Barrett Thompson to Mobile, Alabama in 2014, where he lived until the time of his passing.

William is survived by his wife, Mira, his stepson Preston White, his parents, Johnny and Martha Thompson, his aunts Martha Payne, Barbara Wiley, and Ginger Zielinski, his adoptive brother, Alan Miller and his cousins, Tim Edmonds, Angela Miller, and Lisa Martin.

A memorial service will be held in Ringgold, Georgia at later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in William’s memory be made to the American Heart Associatio­n.
