Gestamp continues to drive the Chattanooga job market

-

It’s no secret that the automotive industry is one of great opportunity here in the Scenic City, and if the technology and assembly side of it is something that sparks your interest, then Gestamp is an employer to note at the top of the list.

Founded in 1997 with the goal of being a global supplier with a focus on technology, Gestamp has continued to grow into the international corporation it is today. By adapting to their clients’ needs, Gestamp expanded from a small local stamping company to a global and multi-technology leader in Hot Stamping.

Known for their products that integrate into and define the bodies of vehicle structures, the company encompasses all the processes of part manufacturing from creation to finished product.

“We’re working for a lighter, safer car,” shared Ronald Pankratz, Human Resources Manager for Gestamp, when describing the company’s mission centered on honesty, effort, and the development of long term projects all driven to the client’s satisfaction.

Gestamp is dedicated to the development and manufacturing of metal components and structural systems for the automotive industry. Pankratz noted that their major customers are Volkswagen, Mercedes, BMW, and Honda. The company has active openings and opportunities at three local plant locations, and anyone willing to come to work every day and be part of a team to make quality products for the customer and put the client first, is welcome to come in and apply for a position, per Pankratz.

“Generally, we want people with the ability to work together as a team and to be able to learn new things,” he said. “It is also important for candidates to have an attention for detail, able to follow standard work, and be comfortable in a fast paced manufacturing environment.”

Candidates also need to be willing to work an off shift and work overtime on a daily basis and on weekends. For those interested in forklift operations, quality inspectors, and maintenance positions, previous experience is also a requirement.

Pankratz added that when you yourself in Gestamp, you will in turn be working for a company that will invest in you. They strive to build employees up and create a team atmosphere to help them grow from within. By working under the pretense that “people are the architects of success,” as published in their corporate values and vision, Gestamp works to promote the personal and professional development of all employees.

“We have a strong focus on internal promotions,” he shared. “We look internally first for positions like Quality Inspectors, Process Technicians, and supervisors.”

And rest assured, Gestamp is continuing to grow and will be a strong, driving presence for years to come. With innovation at the heart of what they do and build, there are endless roads to success for their business, clients, and employees alike.
