Friends of the Festival, the people who produce the Riverbend Festival and Chattanooga Unite, have added movies to their menu of activities. The organization will present “Jumanji: The Next Level” this Sunday to celebrate Labor Day Weekend at Tennessee Riverpark, 4301 Amnicola Highway.

“People are looking to get out and do things with their families, and this is a way to get out for two hours and not think about COVID,” said Executive Director Mickey McCamish.

He said the organization has found ways to take advantage of the things the park offers, such as standalone bathrooms, parking and shade, as well as enough space to allow for social distancing. Admission to the movie will be $25 per car and people will be asked to stay in their allotted spaces except for trips to the bathroom. Lawn chairs are allowed, and families are encouraged to bring their picnic or snacks as no concessions will be offered.

The same people who provide the video screens at Riverbend will provide the picture and sound, which is delivered via attendees’ car radios.

McCamish said this is just one way Friends of the Festival is looking to find new ways to bring events to the community.

“We hope to have about 300 cars on Sunday and this is another use for the riverpark. It should be a nice evening for the family,” he said.

Tickets are available online only at www.showclix.com/ event/labour-day-weekenddrive-in. No gate sales will be available.

“Jumanji: The Next Level” is an action/adventure comedy that is rated PG-13. The film stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan, and runs a little over two hours.
