David Erby

David L Erby, 77, lifelong resident of Chattanooga went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 29, 2020.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Nellie Erby; 4 brothers, and sisters.

Survivors are his dedicated wife of 21 years, Susan Smith-Erby; daughter, Terri Johnson, Red Bank; son, Scott Erby, Franklin, TN; son, Stephen Erby, Chattanooga; daughter, Tara Sanders, East Ridge; Stepsons, Jason (Michelle) Harvey, Soddy; Brad (Caiti) Thrasher, Fayetteville, NC; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and his beloved dogs.

David was in many aspects of the car business, including owner of D&S Auto, for over 40 years. He graduated Kirkman High School, Class of 1961.

He was always active in various forms of sports throughout his life, including: President of Lakeview Recreation Assoc, baseball and football; President of LFO Booster Club; Commissioner of CBA Chattanooga Men’s Baseball Summer League; Founder Chattanooga Generals Baseball; Founder Dalton Carpet Capital Classic Baseball Tournament; Chattanooga Fantasy baseball, football and Nascar leagues; Lakeview Jaycees, Elks Lodge; and Creator of Kirkman High website for alumni.

His favorite pastimes for past 20 years were working on genealogy, researching his family tree, playing Fantasy Sports with his buddies and spoiling his dogs.

Family will have visitation on Thursday, December 3, 2020 from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Hamilton Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers make donations to St Jude Hospital, who helped his grandson so much or any pet rescue organization.
