/awrence H. PhilliSs, Sr., 4, of &hattanooga, Sassed away Tuesday Nov. 4, 0 0. /awrence was born on July 13, 1 , in Hixson, TN, to James B. and &allie S. McKelvey PhilliSs; both have Sreceded him in death.

/awrence served our country in the 8.S. Army Merchant Marines during ::II and during the Korean &onflict. He received a certificat­e as a draftsman through Kirkman Tech. High School.

/awrence retired from &ontainer &orS. of America after 3 years of service as a salesman engineer and develoSed 3 Satents seen in fro en dinner Sackaging, Krystal Sackaging and KF& bucket Sackaging . He also retired from Shorewood Printing and Mechanical Packaging after 14 years of service and was instrument­al in getting Shorewood into the Sackaging end of business.

/awrence enMoyed Slaying golf, was an avid bowler, and enMoyed big band music from the 40s. /awrence loved baseball and was a staunch Atlanta Braves fan.

He is survived by his children, Georgia A. Randy Rawis er, David P. Susan PhilliSs, /awrence H. Mary /u PhilliSs, Jr.; and grandchild­ren.

A graveside service will be held Friday, Dec. 4, at 30 S.m. at &hattanooga National &emetery with Pastor David Hall officiatin­g and where military honors will be Serformed by the 8.S. Army. :e resSectful­ly reTuest that all current &D& mandates be adhered including face coverings and social distancing during the graveside service.
