A Louisville, Kentucky, woman was jailed this week after an alleged road rage incident involving gunshots fired at another motorist on Interstate 24 and the subsequent discovery of suspected edible marijuana.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol stopped 22- year- old De’Corea A. Moody in Grundy County on Monday.

Officers allegedly found 30 ounces of marijuana edibles and a loaded 9mm pistol, according to THP spokesperson Bill Miller.

Moody was taken into custody after a “be on the lookout” notification was issued to area troopers for a vehicle suspected of being involved in a road rage incident that included shots fired on I-24 in Marion County, Miller said. “Interdiction Plus” Trooper Donnie Clark spotted the suspect vehicle on I-24 in Grundy County and stopped it with help from other officers.

“Upon contact, troopers detected the odor of marijuana,” Miller said. THP K- 9 officer Jason Boles’ dog alerted on Moody’s car, which led to the alleged discovery of “approximately 30 ounces of marijuana edibles along with a loaded 9mm pistol.”

As Moody was interviewed, troopers said she admitted to being involved in the road rage incident, according to Miller. Authorities said Moody also told troopers she fired at least three rounds at another vehicle to intimidate the driver.

Moody is charged with felony aggravated assault, felony possession of a Schedule VI drug and possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony, authorities said.

No injuries were reported.

Officials in the Marion County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office said Moody faces an initial appearance in General Sessions Court on Jan. 21, and the public defender’s office has been appointed to represent her.

“It’s too early to make a comment on the case yet since we’ve just been appointed,” 12th Judicial District Public Defender Jeff Harmon said Wednesday. He said he might be able to discuss the case more in the future.

Moody, meanwhile, remains held at the Marion County Jail on an unspecified bond.
