Young artists needed for 2020 Wrapping Paper Design Contest

- STAFF REPORT

The deadline has been extended for this year’s Lin C. Parker Wrapping Paper Design Contest, which seeks original, holiday-themed drawings from young artists.

Through 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 11, any student in grades 1-5 (public, private or home school) may submit one entry into the contest. The winning design, submitted on a plain piece of 8 1/2- by 11-inch paper, will be enlarged to the size of a newspaper broadsheet and printed on premium paper for readers to wrap their holiday gifts.

The winning design will be inserted in the newspaper on Sunday, Dec. 20. Designs by several runners-up will be featured on the flip side. An online gallery will be available for Readers’ Choice voting.

The winning artist will be featured with a story and photograph in the newspaper and also receive a cash prize of $25.

Rather than being mailed or hand- delivered to the Times Free Press newsroom, the entries must be uploaded to our website, timesfreepress.com/wrapping.

Finalists will be determined by popular vote from judges representing

the Times Free Press, ArtsBuild, Creative Discovery Museum and United Way of Greater Chattanooga.

For best results, artists should use bright colors and fill the entire page with their original design.
