CSS freshman gets 36 points

Chattanoog­a Christian School freshman guard Boo Carter made eight 3-pointers as he scored 36 points to propel the Chargers to a 63-45 victory Friday night at South Pittsburg.

Carter outscored the Pirates himself over the first three quarters, 30-29. The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder also plays free safety and running back for the CCS football team, and he plans on playing baseball and competing in track and field in the spring.

Tink Scott added 13 points for the Chargers (3-1).

› Hamilton Heights 58, Christian Heritage 54: Felix Okpara scored 11 points, and the 6-foot-11 junior center also blocked 10 shots and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the Hawks (3-2) to a road victory Friday. Mateo Bianchi (13 points, eight rebounds), Yerald Mieses (14 points, five assists) and Aleksa Skoko (11 points) also played well for Hamilton Heights. For Christian Heritage (5-1), Jax Abernathy scored a gamehigh 20 points, while Nash Bingham (17 points, six steals, four assists) and Evan Lester (eight points, 11 rebounds) also played well for the Lions.

› Lakeview-Fort Oglehorpe 57, Coahulla Creek 34: Amari Burnett scored 11 first-quarter points to help provide a double-digit lead for the Warriors, who improved to 6-2 and 4-1 in GHSA Region 6-AAA with Friday’s win. Sophomore leaders Brent Bowman and Jamichael Davis were sharp for LFO with 16 and 10 points, respective­ly. Coahulla Creek was led in scoring by Mario Edwards (11) and Will Locke (10).

› Marion County 93, Hardy Memorial 21: Jamykah Battle poured in a game-high 25 points for the Warriors, while Donavan Pickett supplied 14, and Jack Pesnell and Zeken Ballard both scored 10 as Marion County won its first game of the season.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

› Marion County 61, Hardy Memorial 27: Senior standout Lorence Bradford scored 23 points, and Sara Muir added 16 and Maddie Holder 10 for the Lady Warriors (4-2) in Friday’s home win.

› Christian Academy of Knoxville 51, Silverdale Baptist Academy 50: Tessa Gibson was a force for the Lady Seahawks (7-6) in Saturday’s narrow home defeat as the veteran senior point guard made 12 of 14 free throws to finish with a gamehigh 14 points. Silverdale senior Ryleigh Hoover hit four 3-pointers for 12 points. CAK led 14-9 after the first quarter and held on the rest of the way.

WRESTLING

Northwest Whitfield went 8-0 over two days in the Clash at the Creek duals tournament hosted by Coahulla Creek High School this weekend. The Bruins beat Calhoun, 51-27, Boyd Buchanan, 44-33 and 39-34, Adairsvill­e B, 57-21 and 60-15, Coahulla Creek, 56-15, Southeast Whitfield, 54-21, and Adairsvill­e A, 42-33. Manny Barreiro, Eli Johnson, Drake Kitchens, Isaac Phillips and Victor Pineda stood out for the Bruins.
