Myrtle was a compassionate, hard working, generous, patient, and loving person who treated everyone with kindness and respect. She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be greatly missed by those she loved and those who knew her. Myrtle will always have a special place in our hearts. One of the most important things in her life was gardening. She took pride in her flowers and vegetables. It gave her great joy to share her abundance with others. Family was most important of all. She spent 18 years as a caregiver to the love of her life Lonnie Davis and her daughter Peggy Davis for 15 years. After sharing many stories about her life and love for Big Soddy Creek Gulf, no one was more excited to see it open to the public as much as Myrtle. She was proud to be a part of its history. Being married to a veteran influenced Myrtle’s passion for her country. She was an honorary lifetime member of the Gold Star Wives of American Magnolia Chapter South East Region. From early on her faith in God was an important part of her life. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church and in her later years attended Rechoboth Baptist Church.

Myrtle was employed by several different hosiery mills over the years. She was employed by Tennessee Trailers and Price Brothers during her life.

The family would like to thank Dr. David Phillips and Amedisys Home HealthCare of Chattanooga - Dawn, Kelly and Jo Anna for their care and compassion.
