None
› Why should voters choose you?
Over the course of this campaign, I have shared my vision of where Chattanooga can go looking beyond the next four years but the next 10 years. We must be bold in how we move Chattanooga forward. In doing so we can include everyone from those who are economically disadvantaged to the board rooms. It’s time to have a champion of the people doing battle for you each day. On day one I will be prepared to move this city forward, surrounding myself with the best and brightest Chattanooga has to offer.
› Biggest challenge facing the office you seek?
The biggest challenge facing the next mayor will be creating and sustaining affordable housing.
› How will you address this challenge?
The Davis administration policy takes the first step by creating a first-of-its-kind, down-payment, rent-to-own assistance program. Those eligible for assistance must be first-time homebuyers who live in a formerly red-lined neighborhood or community that was segregated by law and are still currently low-income. The Davis administration housing policy will help by investing $30 million over four years to build, preserve, and rehab affordable housing, creating a multitude of new housing units. Substantially improving housing affordability isn’t just good for the economy and working families, it will also reduce homelessness and crime.
› What policy position of yours might surprise people?
The Davis administration will establish a fund dedicated to affordable low-income housing. The Davis administration will create a Housing Commission whose sole purpose is to create partnerships across the city with private developers to create real 21st century affordable housing in Chattanooga. Currently, the office that is dedicated to creating affordable housing is the office of economic development. The Davis administration will take this heavy burden off this office and merge this office with the Davis administration new Science and Technology Research Development Department. Its main purpose will be to ensure Chattanoogans are moving into the 21st century with 21st-century jobs. The Housing Commission will have the task of creating, maintaining, and sustaining affordable housing in Chattanooga.
› What past or current public servant do you most admire?
Maxine Waters, a congresswoman from California, is a public servant that I most admire because she is a true fighter of the people. She is unbought and unbossed, always speaking truth to power no matter the political cost. › Campaign office address: 2725 Cannon Ave Chattanooga, TN 37404 › Campaign office phone: 423-580-1478 › Campaign office email: thepeopleschampforchamayor2021@gmail.com › Campaign office website: peoplescha.com › Campaign Facebook: n/a › Campaign Twitter: n/a › Campaign Instagram: n/a › Phone: 423-320-5743 › Age on Election Day: 35 › Occupation: Philanthropist, community activist › Employer: I Am Foundation › Education: Howard High School of Academics and Technology class of 2003; Southern New Hampshire University Bachelor of Science degree in public administration, class of 2014 › Family: Deborah White, mother, Johnny White, father, Stephanie White, sister, Johnny White Jr., brother, Sean Nix, partner › Neighborhood of residence: Park City › Civic involvement: I Am Foundation Founder/President CEO › Quote or saying I live by: n/a
