George Ryan Love

› Office sought: Mayor › PARTY: DEMOCRAT

-

› Previous public office experience:

I ran for Congress in 2016 in the Democratic primary, and for Hamilton County mayor in 2018 in the Democratic primary

› Why should voters choose you?

I hold a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in education. I have Spanish medical interpreter training. I am also disabled and work for Sodexo as a cashier. I believe the people closest to the pain should be closest to the policy. I have the education and know what poverty feels like. I am an essential worker and will fight for essential workers of all demographics.

› Biggest challenge facing the office you seek?

There were many housing and food insecure before the pandemic. Now, it’s worse. Many have no home or food. We need COVID-19 testing and shots for everyone and to provide shelter and food for everyone.

› How will you address this challenge?

I will give no tax breaks to the wealthy. We will give no more public dollars to any program or contractor that does not provide assistance to the needy. If we can eat it, we don’t need it.

› What policy position of yours might surprise people?

I want to call out and punish companies that teach people not to unionize and mistreat the injured employees like Wal-Mart. I speak from experience. I want to call out employers who punish employees who speak out. Again, I speak from experience.

› What past or current public servant do you most admire?

I admire Bernie Sanders. He fought for labor rights and ran two campaigns for president on public donations and took on the political and corporate establishment twice like I did. He fought to get our stimulus money and other benefits. He fought to save our Social Security from Democratic and Republican lawmakers under the Obama administration. His platform is just like mine. He is my political hero, and if elected I want his picture in my office, too. Feel the Bern! Join the Love Revolution!
