Peggy Sadler

-

Peggy Jo Merrell Sadler, 88, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2021. Known and greatly loved as Wife, Mom, Mamaw, Grandma Peg, Aunt Peggy, and Miss Peggy, she has been a source of comfort and support to countless people throughout her life.

She was a devout Christian and an amazing Prayer Warrior for so many family members and friends – and even for “friends” she had never met. Her faith in God and His Goodness was without limits.

Her greatest desire was for her family to know and serve the Lord, and her entire life was an incredible example of Christ-like service. She was a member of The Ministry Center (formerly North Chattanooga Church of God), and she dearly loved her pastors and church family.

Peggy was a Second Mom to many children she cared for through the years, truly loving and caring for them as her own. She was instrumental in leading many of them to a relationship with God and encouraged their walk with the Lord.

Peggy loved hummingbirds and beautiful flowers and had an amazing “green thumb”. She loved sharing plants with family and friends. We would often come home to find a beautiful new plant on our deck or porch and immediately we knew that Mom had been there.

She was born 2/2/33 in Lakeland, FL to Sam and Gladys Merrell. Soon the family moved to Beersheba Springs, TN where Peggy, as the 2nd oldest child, helped care for and grew up with her 7 siblings and extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. This beautiful community remains an important part of our family life as 4 generations continue to gather annually for a weekend of family fun, fellowship and memory-making at the “Old Home Place” in Beersheba Springs.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Gladys Merrell; Sisters Glenda York and Amelia Farlett; Brother Sam Merrell Jr. and Son Jeffrey Hoyte Sadler.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 67 years Jim Sadler; Daughters Cynthia (David) Reynolds and Darlene Wilson; Son Greg Sadler; Grandchildren Jennifer (Jacob) King, Tim (Holly) Wilson and Mikaya (fiancé Jordan Knight) Reynolds; and Great-grandchildren Joshua King, Noah King and Erin Wilson; sisters Anita (Al) Holland and Patricia (Bud) Hewitt; Brothers Wendell (Nancy) Merrell and Hoyte Merrell, and many dearly loved nieces and nephews. Proverbs 31:28-29 (ESV) Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, he praises her.

Many women have done excellently, “but you surpass

them all”
