Michael Rayburn
Michael (Mike) Andrew Rayburn was born on June 23, 1965 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Pamelia Hicks Rayburn of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Charles Herbert Rayburn of Birmingham, Alabama. Not too long after, the family moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee and made their home in Hixson.
Growing up, Mike attended St. Peter’s School, Alpine Crest Elementary, Red Bank Junior High, and finally joined his older brother Charles (Chuck) Baron Rayburn at Baylor School for his high school years where he graduated in 1983. Mike possessed great pride in his Baylor roots and referred to them often. He attended college at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he earned a degree in Fine Arts. Mike often recounted his time at UTC as some of the most fun in his life.
Mike made friends easily wherever he went and never met a stranger. He held those lasting friendships close to his heart.
Mike was an avid lover of history, fishing, art, and Notre Dame football. To know Mike was to love Mike, and he will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pamelia and Charles Rayburn of Chattanooga; and his grandparents, Betty and Dean Hicks of Chattanooga as well as Earlene and Robert Rayburn of Birmingham.
Mike is survived by his older brother, Chuck Rayburn of Chattanooga; younger sister, Dina (Cary) Rayburn-Long of Chattanooga; as well as his niece Abigail Little and nephew Charles Long of Chattanooga.
