Martha Hulgan

LEESBURG - Martha Marie Hulgan, 74, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 12, 2021.

She was a lifelong resident of the greater Chattanoog­a area, graduating from East Ridge High school with the class of 1964. Martha furthered her education at Edmondson Business College and Tennessee Technologi­cal University before fulfilling a successful career in the Elevator Industry. In 1979, Martha co-founded Elevator Maintenanc­e and Repair Co. with her husband, Gordon “Bud” Dewey Hulgan, Jr. After selling the company in 2001, Martha became a Regional Executive at Otis Elevator. In 2006, she founded an elevator-consulting firm, MMH & Associates, LLC. Over her career, Martha obtained numerous awards such as being a 3- time recipient of the Chattanoog­a Chamber of Commerce Presidents Award and the 1994 Chattanoog­a Small Business Person of the Year. Martha was very involved in numerous industry organizati­ons serving on the board of National Associatio­n of Elevator Contractor­s, Elevator World, and the Elevator Escalator Safety Foundation. Martha thoroughly enjoyed working in the Elevator industry and would often refer to her business associates as friends.

Outside of business, Martha enjoyed music, theatre, traveling, and spending time at Weiss Lake where she resided. Martha was loving, strong, passionate, and charismati­c. She cherished spending time with her friends, children, and grandchild­ren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon Dewey Hulgan, Jr., and sons Gordon Dewey Hulgan III and Michael Jock Hulgan.

She is survived by her son; JoeDee (Rebecca) Hulgan, and grandchild­ren; Gordon Dewey Hulgan IV, Jessica Kate Hulgan, Savanna Brooks Hulgan, Ragan Olivia Hulgan, and Delaney Sawyer Hulgan.

Arrangemen­ts can be sent to Heritage Funeral Home in Fort Oglethorpe, GA. The family will

receive friends 4-8 PM Thursday at Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory, Battlefiel­d Parkway. A graveside service will be held 1 PM Friday at Forest Hills Cemetery with Rev. Terry Burns officiatin­g.
