Edward Campbell

Edward Lee Campbell, Jr., 93, of Red Bank, was peacefully reunited with his beloved wife on April 27, 2021, while surrounded by family.

Originally from Fayetteville, TN, Ed enlisted in the Navy after high school, served his country, then moved to Chattanooga where his parents had moved after opening a barber shop in downtown Chattanooga. Ed started working at Dupont, and although his career didn’t keep him there, he met the love of his life, Rose Campbell, and they were married July 14, 1955. Together, they built a wonderful life, full of love and memories. Ed retired from Bellsouth Phone Company, after a successful career that fulfilled him every day. When he wasn’t working, Ed spent his time enjoying his family, whether it was practicing sports with his son, Mark, or traveling to different parts of the United States, his family was at the center of everything he did. After retiring, Ed spent a lot of his time golfing at Lake Tansi, fishing in Florida, and watching his favorite sports on tv. But he also continued to sacrifice for his family, devoting a lot of his free time to his grandchildren and all their activities.

A faithful member of Red Bank United Methodist Church (Shaw-Murray Sunday School Class), Ed was happy to greet the congregation on Sunday mornings, as he never met a stranger. His smile was infectious, and you were always likely to hear a good joke when in his presence. He left a lasting impression on anyone he met.

Ed is preceded in death by his wife, Rose Campbell, parents, Ellen and Edward Campbell, Sr, two sisters, Bette Harrell and Kay Webb, and one brother-in-law, Ronald Goins.

He is survived by his son, Mark (Danna) Campbell, 4 grandchildren, Jessica (Mark) Ramsey, Drew Campbell, Kelly (Bradley Johnson) Campbell, Ashton (Nathan) Ransbottom, two great-granddaughters, Charley and Frankie, brother-in-law Glen Goins, and sister-in-law, Teresa Goins, along with extended family.

A Graveside service will be held Friday, April 30, 2021 at 2:00 PM, at Hamilton Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Red Bank Food Pantry, which is sponsored by Red Bank United Methodist Church. In addition, the family wants to give thanks to the Memorial IMCU unit for their exceptional care in Ed’s final days.
