John Edward Baylor, 80, of Chattanoog­a, TN and formerly of Morristown, TN, passed away on April 27, 2021.

He was retired from the constructi­on business after more than 60 years. He enjoyed gardening, giving much of the bounty to family and neighbors. He was an avid fisherman and involved for many years in church activities.

Mr. Baylor is preceded in death by parents, James and Lois “Curl” Baylor; son Rickey Edward Baylor; brothers, Claude Baylor and Elmer Baylor; sister, Cora Lou Clark.

Mr. Baylor is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Willie “Parker” Baylor; children, Jamie (Robert) Swafford, Danny (Karen) Baylor and Kristie (Michael) Powers; grandchild­ren, Stephen (Patricia) Baylor, Chelsie (Christophe­r) Isbill, William Turner, Hayden Turner, Kayla Baylor, Eric Powers, Ethan Baylor, Jonathan Powers, Steven (Brittany) Hulshizer and Meagan (Michael) Ehmig; seven great grandchild­ren and one great-great grandchild; sisterin-law, Bobbie (Carl) Finney.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 29, 2021 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at W.L. Wilson and Sons Funeral Home in Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 30, 2021, at 10:00am in the chapel with Bro. Josh Hollifield and Bro. Eric Powers officiatin­g. Interment will follow at Harrell Cemetery in Bean Station, Tennessee, at 2:00pm, grandsons will serve as pallbearer­s.
