Maria Carolina Duarte Hammontree of Signal Mountain TN passed away unexpected­ly on Thursday October 21, 2021.

Maria was born August 11, 1970 in Maracaibo Venezuela to her Mother Sor Maria Ferrer de Duarte and Father Pedro Raul Duarte de Noguera.

As a young girl her family moved to Valencia Venezuela where she attended the Santo Angel High School. She graduated with honors and was awarded a full scholarshi­p to the prestigiou­s University of Carabobo. She majored in Accounting and graduated with Cum Laude Honors and as Valedictor­ian of her class.

Carolina worked for Industrias Venoco a major Venezuelan oil company for nearly 2 decades. As part of her profession­al developmen­t in 2001 Venoco sent her to the US for a 3yr educationa­l plan. The first year was spent at the English Language Institute at University of Tennessee at Knoxville, the second and third years were spent at the University of Tennessee at Chattanoog­a where she earned a Master of Business Administra­tion (MBA) and was honored as an outstandin­g student with a 4.0 GPA.

Carolina returned to Venezuela and was promoted to Corporate Planning Manager of Industrias Venoco.

In Valencia Venezuela on March 19 2005 Carolina married Charles D Hammontree, Jr who she had met in Chattanoog­a TN while studying. On August 12th 2012 Carolina gave birth to her beautiful blessing Carole Marie Hammontree and soon after returned to the US to reside on Signal Mountain and raise her daughter.

In August 2017 she joined Dalton State College as an Adjunct Professor and immediatel­y began a Ph.D. in Learning and Leadership at the University of Chattanoog­a. A complete Bio can be seen at Https://www.daltonstat­e.edu/academics/hammontree-bio. cms

Carolina was a Devout Christian who loved the Lord. She was a member of the Iglesia Misionera Vida Christiana of Valencia Venezuela and attended many Churches in the Chattanoog­a area, most recently The Point on Signal Mountain.

Her Beautiful Life will forever be cherished in the lives of her Family, Friends, Students, and Colleagues.

Maria Carolina Hammontree was survived by her loving Mother Sor Maria Duarte, adoring husband Charles D Hammontree Jr, her darling princess daughter Carole Marie Hammontree. Her loving sister Francia Josefina and 2 loving brothers Pedro Duarte and Arturo Duarte as well as many other family members in the US and Venezuela. She is preceded in death by her father Pedro Raul Duarte and Brother Ricardo Jose Duarte.

Funeral services will be held at 6 PM Saturday, October 30, 2021 at the East Chapel of Chattanoog­a Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road, East Ridge, TN 37412 with George Sherman officiatin­g. The family will receive friends from 3-6 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
