Dorothy ³Dot´ Heggie, of Signal Mountain, died on November 18, 2021 at the age of 93.

Dot was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Hunter D. Heggie, a daughter Alyson Heggie Crouch, grandson Hunter Hamilton Crouch, her parents Horace Greely Killebrew and (tta Mae Killebrew and four of her six siblings, Donald Killebrew, 5onald Killebrew, Horace Killebrew, and Lloyd Killebrew.

Dot was born in Damascus, Georgia on August 1, 1928.

She attended school there, graduating as valedictor­ian of her senior class. She then attended Georgia State College for :omen. After teaching school for a year, she moved to Atlanta to pursue other interests. It was there where she met her future husband, Hunter Heggie. Following their wedding, they spent 3 years in St. Louis, Missouri and one year in Birmingham, Alabama before settling in Chattanoog­a, Tennessee.

:hile raising a growing family, Dot attended 8TC where she earned a BS in Human Services Management. She then earned a 5eal (state Broker¶s license. She became Broker Manager of Crye-Leike¶s Signal Mountain office, a position she held for some 30 years.

In addition to serving in different capacities (including serving on the Board) of the Chattanoog­a Associatio­n of 5ealtors, she was also involved in several civic organi]ations and service organi]ations. Among them were the Downtown Kiwanis Club. She served as President of the Board for Habitat for Humanity.

Dot was an active member of First-Centenary 8nited Methodist Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher in the Youth Department, Sunday School Superinten­dent, an active member of the choir and Chair of the Music Committee.

Pursuing her love of music, she was a member of the Chattanoog­a Symphony Chorus and for many years a member of the Signal Mountain Glee Club.

Dot is survived by her sons, Daryl (Donna) Heggie of Kennesaw, Georgia; Dalton Heggie of Chattanoog­a, Tennessee; and Chris (Mary) Heggie of High Point, North Carolina; and grandson 5yan Heggie of High Point, North Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, the family reTuests memorial donations be made to First-Centenary 8nited Methodist Church 419 McCallie Avenue Chattanoog­a, Tennessee 37402 designated to be used for the ministry of the donor¶s choice.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM Thursday, December 9, 2021 at the (ast Chapel of Chattanoog­a Funeral Home, 404 South Moore 5oad. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, December 10, 2021 at First Centenary 8nited Methodist Church with Dr. Mark Gooden and the 5ev. Laura Shearer officiatin­g. Burial will follow at the National Cemetery located at 1200 Bailey Avenue, Chattanoog­a, Tennessee.
