Late night host James Corden has COVID
James Corden has joined the growing list of celebrities, and late night TV hosts, with breakthrough COVID-19 cases.
The “Late Late Show” host revealed on Instragram Thursday that he had the virus.
“I just tested positive for Covid 19,” wrote Corden, 43. “I’m fully vaccinated, boosted and because of this am fortunate enough to say I feel completely fine.”
The CBS late night talk show is on pause in the coming days as a result, he said. Comments on the post were turned off.
In the wake of holiday gatherings and right in the midst of an omicron-fueled surge in much of the world, events are once again being canceled and made virtual.
Corden’s fellow late night hosts Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers both revealed this week that they recently tested positive.
Fallon shared on Instagram Monday he had tested positive at the start of “The Tonight Show” holiday break.
“I was vaccinated and boostered which made me lucky enough to only have mild symptoms,” he captioned a photo of himself in an NBC isolation room, thanking nurses behind the vaccination campaign and the network “for taking the testing protocols so seriously and doing a great job.”
The “Tonight Show” host was “back to 100%” by the time he posted and back on the job for Monday’s new episode.
Bon Jovi will open 2022 tour in the Midwest
While fans are impatiently waiting for a heavily rumored tour announcement from Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, New Jersey’s second-most-iconic rock band Bon Jovi has confirmed 2022 dates starting in the Midwest in early April.
Jon Bon Jovi and his namesake crew will open their tour in Omaha, Nebraska, on April 1.
Tickets for all shows on the 15-city itinerary go on sale via ticketmaster.com on Jan. 14, with presale options beginning Tuesday. No vaccine or mask requirements are currently listed for the concerts, but a note on Xcel Center’s website for the St. Paul, Minnesota, show says that “the Event Organizer will continue to monitor local COVID-19 trends and meet or exceed protocols mandated by local governments.”
In 2018, Bon Jovi was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on the fan popularity vote.
Pixar’s ‘Turning Red’ to debut directly on Disney+
NEW YORK — The third straight Pixar feature film will go straight to Disney+, the Walt Disney Co. announced Friday.
“Turning Red” will premiere exclusively on Disney+ on March 11, the studio said. Kareem Daniel, chairman of distribution for Disney, cited the pandemic and the slower recovery for family films at the box office.
“Given the delayed box office recovery, particularly for family films, flexibility remains at the core of our distribution decisions,” said Daniel in a statement.
Disney describes “Turning Red” as the story of “a confident, dorky 13-year-old torn between staying her mother’s dutiful daughter and the chaos of adolescence.” Directed by Domee Shi (who made the Pixar short “Bao”), it’s the first Pixar film helmed solely by a woman. Rosalie Chiang and Sandra Oh lead the voice cast.
Judge Judy funds scholarships
NEW YORK — “Judge Judy” Sheindlin has given a $5 million donation to New York Law School, where she, her daughter and granddaughter have attended.
The donation will fund full tuition and books for 10 women a year, along with a summer employment fellowship after their first year, the school said.
Sheindlin, whose “Judge Judy” courtroom television show ended in September after a 25-year run, now hosts “Judy Justice” on Amazon. She graduated from New York Law School in 1965, and her daughter Nicole Sheindlin graduated in 1993. Granddaughter Sarah Rose is set to graduate this spring.
