Bowers, Mitchell join Erlanger as OB-GYN physician providers
Erlanger Health System has added board-certified obstetriciangynecologists Dr. Maria Bowers and Dr. Kathleen Mitchell to its growing list of providers.
Bowers and Mitchell have been providing OB-GYN services to the women of the Chattanooga region for a collective 42 years.
Prior to joining Erlanger, Bowers provided OB-GYN services at Chattanooga Women’s
Specialists and Beacon Health Associates, respectively. She earned a doctor of osteopathy degree from the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Kansas City University in Missouri, and completed an obstetrics and gynecology residency at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City. Bowers’ office is located at Erlanger Center for Women on Ziegler Rd. in East Brainerd.
In her previous role, Mitchell was an OB-GYN physician with Beacon Health Associates for 24 years, where she served on the board of directors for six years. She earned both a masters of public health degree and a doctor of medicine degree from Loma Linda University in California. Following her medical education,
Mitchell completed an obstetrics and gynecology residency at the State University of New York Health Science Center in Brooklyn, where she also served as administrative chief resident and clinical assistant professor. Mitchell sees patients at Erlanger Women’s Institute for Specialized Health, or WISH, at Erlanger East Hospital.
“Dr. Bowers and Dr. Mitchell are two phenomenal physicians who we are proud to welcome to the Erlanger Women’s Services team,” said Meridith O’Keefe, senior vice president of Erlanger Medical Group. “They bring with them a great deal of experience, and we look forward to helping them continue to serve the women of our region.”
