James Edward “Jim” Ireland passed away peacefully at home after a brief illness on Thursday, October 20, 2022. Jim was born in Chattanoog­a, Tenn. on January 11, 1959. He was educated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help and Notre Dame High School, later graduating from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1982. While at UT, Jim was a proud member of Kappa Sigma fraternity and maintained many lifelong friendship­s that began during his college years and lasted throughout the course of his life.

Jim and his brother, Skip Ireland were co-owners of COS Business Products, the family business founded by their grandfathe­r in 1941. He began working in the company’s warehouse in his early 20s, later becoming Vice-President of Operations. He was loved by his colleagues and customers alike for his fun-loving spirit, kindness and humor and will be missed by the people he worked with and cared about during his 40 year career with the company.

Jim is survived by his wife of 27 years, Lynn Ireland, along with two bonus children, Natalie Hostetler (Peterson) and Drew Kizziah. He had two grandsons he adored, Andrew Kizziah and Winston Hostetler. Spending time with family at the beach and playing golf with his friends were his favorite pastimes. He spoiled his grandsons with love and laughter every time they were together, which was often.

Other survivors include his brother, Henry Hudson Ireland, III (Joi) and their children, Hudson (Jenn), Amanda (James) and Nick (Ashley); his sister, Laura Johnson (Don) along with their daughters, Lindsay (Seth) and Olivia (Jason) plus Dolores Ireland and her sons Dustin and Dylan. Jim was preceded in death by his brother Thomas Ireland “Tommy” (Dolores) and his parents, Henry Hudson Ireland, Jr. and Margaret Donovan Ireland.

A visitation will be held Sunday, October 23, 2022 from 5 - 7 p.m. at Chattanoog­a Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist-East Chapel, 404 South Moore Road, East Ridge, TN 37412. A gathering of family and friends will occur Monday, October 24, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 501 S. Moore Road, East Ridge, TN 37412. A funeral mass will be held Monday, October 24, 2022 at 12 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 501 S. Moore Road, East Ridge, TN 37412 followed by the burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 1 Mount Olivet Drive, East Ridge, TN 37412.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons may be made to the Rees Skillern Cancer Institute (Joe and Virginia Schmissrau­ter Center for Cancer Support), 605 Glenwood Drive, Suite 307, Chattanoog­a, TN 37404.
