Johnnie Hammontree

Johnnie Hammontree, 89, of East Ridge, TN., stepped into heaven on Oct 12, 2022. She was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga. She grew up in the East Lake area with her six brothers and sisters. She worked as a beautician. Johnnie dedicated her life to her family and her children. Her legacy will live on through her children and grandchildren. Johnnie impacted her friends and family through her unconditional love. She loved to gather and cook meals for her friends and family. She was preceded in death by her husband Eston Hammontree, parents Joseph and Fannie Long, and 5 siblings. Left behind to cherish Johnnie’s memory are her children Anna Lewis and Deon Hammontree, grandchildren Dran (Amber) Lewis, Gabriel (Mikaela) Lewis, Olivia Hammontree, Isabella Lewis, Elaina Hammontree, and Isla Lewis, one brother Richard (Pat) Long, son-in-law Jay Lewis, daughter in law Patti Hammontree, several nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. A Celebration of Johnnie’s Life Memorial Service and Reception will be held in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Friday October 21, 2022 in the funeral home catering room beginning at 5:00 pm and lasting until 7:00 pm. The family will receive friends prior to the reception beginning at 4:30. A graveside service will be held on Saturday October 22, 2022 at 11:00 in the Lakewood Memory Gardens South in Rossville, GA.
