Dr. Stephen Brooks

Dr. Stephen Arthur Brooks, 79, a Chattanooga native, passed away while surrounded by loved ones in Rowlett, Texas on January 10, 2023.

A devoted Christian, Stephen was born to the late Della Beatrice and James William Brooks on May 21, 1943 in Chattanooga, TN. He began his dental career in Kinston, NC but quickly returned to Chattanooga where he spent over 40 years as a dentist in private practice. He was the recipient of many awards recognizing his career of excellence in dentistry including election to both the National and International Colleges of Dentistry, and the Jack E. Wells Memorial Award for dedication to dentistry. He served as president of the Tennessee Dental Association in 2001 and served for many years as scientific editor and editor in chief of the state journal. After his retirement he and his wife Carol moved to Rockwall, TX where they are members of Lakepointe Church.

Stephen is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carol; two brothers, Bill and David; two sons, Mark and Christopher; seven grandchildren, Justin, Cody, Tabitha, Brittany, Jaxon, Paige, and Torin; and seven great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Mercy Ships. Friends and family are invited to either of two visitations: one at Resthaven Funeral Home in Rockwall, TX on Saturday, January 14 from 4 – 6pm OR at the Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel on Wednesday, January 18 from 12 – 2pm with a graveside service for family at 2:30 at the Beautiful Greenwood Cemetery.
