Elizabeth Louise “Betty” Marsh of Hixson, passed into eternal life on Saturday, January 14, 2023, after a twelve year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

She was born on September 23, 1937, in Hixson, Tennessee to the late Jim and Louise Pitts. She was a 1955 graduate of Hixson High School, where she excelled in basketball and played flute in the band. Betty was named “Miss Hixson” and was Hixson’s first ever homecoming queen. She attended the University of Tennessee until meeting the love of her life Charles, whom she was married to for 66 years.

Betty’s life was dedicated to her faith and family. She was a member of Falling Water Cumberland Presbyteri­an Church for 60 years and a member of Silverdale Cumberland Presbyteri­an Church for the last 25 years. Her hobby was her family. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, and “Mimi”. Her greatest joy was doting on her grandchild­ren.

Betty’s inner beauty was her greatest attribute. Friends and family will remember her fun loving spirit, sense of humor, caring nature, and beautiful smile. We will miss her.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Pitts and by her parents, Jim and Louis Pitts.

Betty is survived by her husband, Charles Marsh Jr; son Chuck (Sonia) Marsh, son Ronnie Marsh; Grandchild­ren; Chase (Casey) Marsh, Jordan Marsh, Chad Marsh, and James Marsh and two sister-inlaws, Charlotte Randles and Betty Davidson.

The family would like to thank caregivers: June Hankins, Kelly Fleming, Beth Daniel, and Amanda Palmer. We would also like to thank Deborah Parker and Carla Geach of Hospice.

Pallbearer­s will be: Chase Marsh, Chad Marsh, James Marsh, Eddie Davidson, Bill Pritchett, and Charlie Davis.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Silverdale Cumberland Presbyteri­an Church or Falling Water Cumberland Presbyteri­an Church in her name.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 18th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and Thursday, January 19th from 12:00 -1:00 p.m. at Silverdale Cumberland Presbyteri­an Church. The funeral will be held in the sanctuary of the church at 1:00 p.m. January 19th, 2023. Pastor Cliff Hudson will be officiatin­g. A private graveside service will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
