Evelyne Jeanne Norris Putman, nee’ Evelyne J. Guerin, born in île de Ré, France in 1934. Parents: Louise Mayé Guerin and Laurent Emile Guerin. Our beautiful mother passed from this earth January 30, 2023, at 8:00 am. We were by her side, holding her hand, comforting her, and telling her we loved her when she passed peacefully.

She was 1 of 11 children. She is survived by 3 siblings: René Guerin 98yo of New Caledonia, Michael Emile Guerin 76 yo (Nancy Guerin) of Lewes, DE. and Claude Monaghan 74 yo of Glen Bernie, Md. Evelyne was Married to Richard D. Norris (deceased) and James E. Putman (deceased). She had 3 children: Jacqueline F Norris Armstrong Cowles (William Cowles) of Athens, TN., Robert L Norris of Missoula, MT. and Dean L Norris (Sumi) of Hixson, TN.5 Grandchild­ren: James Christophe­r Armstrong (deceased), Lisa Michelle Armstrong Paul (Brant), Zachary Sean Norris (Nichole Norris), Jessica Robin Norris and Alicia Vail Norris; 4 Great-grandchild­ren: Christophe­r Lee Armstrong, Michael Seth Armstrong Ciara), James Barrett Paul and Abby Reese Paul;5 beautiful little Great-great-granddaugh­ters belonging to Lee and Seth Armstrong, all of which reside GA.

She was truly an amazing woman with such an incredibly full life. She is loved by so many. She was always kind and generous with everyone. And she was one tough lady. She fiercely loved her children. She never complained about herself or her pain, though she had much. She is now with Jesus, and we can rejoice in knowing that she’s with Him and at peace.

She first came to Chattanoog­a, TN in 1969. She was always an innovator and a highly energetic woman. She had a number of enterprise­s in the many years she had lived in Chattanoog­a, starting with an antique shop and French bakery on Signal Mountain. She continued with several more restaurant­s throughout her life with her last being a small restaurant in East Brainard which she managed herself until she was 80 years old. Hobbies were traveling, painting, knitting and tending her flowers.

She will be laid to rest in her family’s tomb in La Rochelle, France.
