Dr. Spencer Johnson

Dr. Parker Spencer Johnson went home to be with the Lord on March 7, 2023. Dr Johnson was born on April 29, 1944 to the late Raymond S. Johnson and Allene Johnson (Varnell) of Ooltewah.

He attended Ooltewah High school and was a multi-sport athlete playing baseball and basketball as well as being a member of the 1959 undefeated Ooltewah High football team.

Dr. Johnson furthered his education at Tennessee Temple Universiry, Luther Rice Seminary and Baptist Theologica­l seminary where he received his doctorate in Biblical Counseling.

Mr. Johnson served the Lord for 45 years as a pastor in churches in Mt. Airy NC, Glenville GA and Chattanoog­a TN.

Dr. Johnson had a beautiful tenor voice and performed in several coral groups in high school as well as singing with his wife and family in the churches he pastored.

Dr. Johnson was an avid Tennessee Vols fan and, for a short time, participat­ed in the honor guard at The University of Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his wife ,Mary Ogle Johnson; father and mother; sister, Sylvia Johnson Powell; and brother Raymond Eugene Johnson.

He is survived by his daughters Lori Johnson (Kevin) Lawson; Stephanie Johnson (Darren) Hodges, granddaugh­ter, Alissa C. Hodges; all of Apison, and sister, Wilma Johnson Young; of Ooltewah

The family wishes to thank Hearth Hospice as well as the caregivers at The Lantern in Collegedal­e.

A graveside service will be held Friday, March 10th at 2 PM at the Plowman Cemetery in Apison, TN with Rev. Steve Huff officiatin­g.
