Peggy Tallent Kelley, age 93, of Chattanooga, Tennessee passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023. Peggy was a 1947 graduate of Central High School. She married Gene Kelley on July 25, 1953. He was her greatest love and best friend for 54 years. Peggy worked as a secretary at South Rossville Elementary School and enjoyed the faculty. She felt it was a privilege to serve with them, the children and families of Rossville. She was a member of McFarland United Methodist Church for 50 years, serving on the board and active in many capacities with her beloved church family. Peggy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas E. Kelley; parents, Vance and Mae Scott Tallent; brother, Ralph Tallent; sister and brother-in-law, Jack and Jerry Marlin. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughter and son-in law, Pamela and Jeff Fine; granddaughter, Kelley Skates; step grandsons, Zac Fine (Olivia) and Tanner Fine; great granddaughter, Channing Kent; devoted niece, Kathy Lewis (Frank); adored nephews, Bob Marlin (Marie) and Jim Marlin; many nieces and nephews that were all blessings and her loyal furry friend, Sassy. Peggy was a devoted wife and mother. As a daughter, Pam experienced the best of her mom. They were the “Original Three”. They worked as a team to achieve what became her legacy of “Loving Well”. Peggy held family and friends close, their home was a place for all to gather. Cooking was one of her passions, she delighted in creating delicious food and serving everyone... anytime! Her selfless ways were a thread that ran through her life and all that she did. Peggy lived out her life with loving kindness that was visible to all. Even in the harshness of this world she taught us there was “enough love to go around”. The only way that could be accomplished was through her saviour, Jesus Christ, she was his willing servant... and he was her “Precious Lord”. Peggy was brave and courageous, fought the battles of life and came out victorious because of her huge faith. Pam and Jeff, who was like a son to Peggy, had the honor to spend the last 16 years of her life sharing in her contagious joy, and that sweet smile until the very end. Mom, we love you and will see you on Golden Street, what a celebration that will be! A visitation will be held July 11, 2023 at 12:30pm with a Celebration of Life to follow at 1:30pm at McFarland United Methodist Church in Rossville, Georgia.
