Kaye Lewis Cannon, 84, passed away October 22, 2023. She was affectiona­tely called “Nam” by her cherished grandsons.

Kaye was born in Parkersbur­g, West Virginia. She married the love of her life and lived in Huntsville, AL until moving to Flintstone, GA in the early 70’s. Kaye obtained her specialist­s degree in early childhood education where she concentrat­ed on children with special needs. She loved these children dearly and wanted the best for them. Kaye worked and retired from the Walker County School System for over 30 years.

Kaye enjoyed gardening and being in the outdoors, loved reading, water skiing, swimming and taking care of her pool. She had multiple cats and one beloved basset hound named, Barkley.

She was a member of Gamma Theta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society Internatio­nal for Key Women Educators and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Chattanoog­a, TN.

Preceded in death by her husband, Fleming Vaughn Cannon; parents, Paul and Eithyl Lewis; and her beloved basset hound, Barkley.

Survivors left to cherish her memory are her children, Kei (Pete) Petersen and Todd (Donni) Cannon; grandchild­ren, Nathan Hampton, Ian Cannon, Sydney and Paul McKee; great grandchild, Oliver McKee; sister, Paula Rayl; a niece and extended family members.

Funeral services will be held on Monday October 30, 2023, 12:30pm at Chattanoog­a National Cemetery, Chattanoog­a, TN with Father Joel Huffstetle­r.

The family will receive friends on Sunday October 29 th from 1:00 until 6:00pm in the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, Rossville, GA where all arrangemen­ts have been made by them, as well.

In lieu of flowers the family asks you make a donation to one of the following animal organizati­ons: Best Friends (bestfriend­s.org/renew23), ASPCA.org or Bassett Hound Rescue of Georgia, Inc.

The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice for the special care they took of Kaye and they also want to mention the wonderful care given by her son in law, Pete Petersen.

If you ride a motorcycle and would like to honor “Nam” as we escort her to CNC, please be at the funeral home by 11:45am to line up.
