REOPENING ILLINOIS
On May 5, Gov. J.B. Pritzker unveiled his five-phase plan to reopen the state, breaking the state into four regions and identifying key metrics each region needs to meet before moving to the next phase. Here’s a look at how the state is progressing along Pritzker’s plan to gradually reopen, using data from the Illinois Department of Public Health.
All Illinois regions are in Phase 4:
• Gatherings of up to 50 people are allowed.
• K-12 schools, higher education, all summer programs and child care open with IDPH-approved safety guidance.
• All employees of ‘‘non-essential’’ businesses can return to work. • Indoor dining (groups of 10 or fewer, spaced tables,
25% capacity for standing areas).
• Movie theaters and performing arts centers (25% capacity in Chicago, 50% elsewhere; both up to 50 people).
• Museums (25% capacity, no interactive exhibits, tours capped at 50 people).
• Health and fitness centers (25% capacity in Chicago,
50% elsewhere; classes up to 50 people).
• All barbershops, salons and spas are open.
• Day camps (50% facility capacity, groups capped at 15).
To reach Phase 5:
Testing, tracing and treatment are widely available throughout the state. A vaccine is developed to prevent additional spread, or a readily available treatment option is available or there are no new cases over a sustained period.
