Texas A&M stuns No. 4 Florida

-

Isaiah Spiller rushed for 174 yards and two touchdowns, and No. 21 Texas A&M upset No. 4 Florida 41-38 on a 26-yard field goal by Seth Small as time expired Saturday in College Station, Texas.

Spiller helped get the Aggies (2-1, 2-1 Southeastern Conference) into position for Small’s decisive kick, which gave Jimbo Fisher his first victory against a team ranked in the top five since becoming Texas A&M’s coach in 2018.

‘‘It’s a good win,’’ he said. ‘‘It’s a big win . . . but they’re all big wins.’’

After the Aggies pulled even on a 51-yard touchdown pass from Kellen Mond to Caleb Chapman with about 4½ minutes left, the Gators (2-1, 2-1) were driving when a fumble by Malik Davis was recovered by Texas A&M to set up the game-ending field goal.

Mond passed for 338 yards and three touchdowns for the Aggies. Kyle Trask threw for 312 yards and four touchdowns for Florida, but the Gators were done in by the late fumble and a poor performance on defense.

Oklahoma 53, Texas 45 (4 OT)

Spencer Rattler threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Drake Stoops in the fourth overtime, and the Sooners (2-2, 1-2 Big 12) intercepted a pass by Sam Ehlinger in the end zone to preserve a dramatic victory against the No. 22 Longhorns (2-2, 1-2) in Dallas. It was the first game between the teams in which neither was ranked in the top 20 since 1999.

Rattler passed for three touchdowns and ran for a fourth and T.J. Pledger rushed for two others for Oklahoma, which prevailed despite blowing a 31-17 lead in the fourth quarter. Ehlinger passed for 287 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 112 yards and four more TDs — including a 25-yarder to force the third overtime — for the Longhorns.

Alabama 63, Mississippi 48

Najee Harris ran for 206 yards and five touchdowns, Mac Jones passed for 417 yards and two more scores and the No. 2 Crimson Tide (3-0, 3-0 SEC) outscored the Rebels (1-2, 1-2) in an offensive showcase in Oxford, Mississippi. The game featured a matchup between longtime Alabama coach Nick Saban and former assistant Lane Kiffin, who is in his first season at Ole Miss.

The Tide rolled up 723 yards of offense but couldn’t shake the Rebels, who got 365 yards passing from Matt Corral and two rushing touchdowns apiece from Snoop Conner and Jerrion Ealy en route to 647 yards of offense.

Missouri 45, LSU 41

Connor Bazelak threw for 406 yards and four touchdowns, and Missouri (1-2, 1-2 SEC) stopped defending national champion and No. 17 LSU (1-2, 1-2) four times from the 1-yard line in the final minute to escape with a victory in a battle of Tigers in Columbia, Missouri. The game was moved from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, because of Hurricane Delta.

Clemson 42, Miami 17

Trevor Lawrence threw for three touchdowns and rushed for another as the No. 1 Tigers (4-0, 3-0) again proved who’s boss in the Atlantic Coast Conference by drubbing the No. 7 Hurricanes (3-1, 2-1) in Clemson, South Carolina. Travis Etienne ran for 149 yards and two touchdowns as Clemson opened 4-0 for the sixth season in a row.

Georgia 44, Tennessee 21

Stetson Bennett threw for two touchdowns and ran for a third, and the No. 3 Bulldogs (3-0, 3-0 SEC) blanked the No. 14 Volunteers (2-1, 2-1) in the second half on their way to an easy victory in Athens, Georgia. Tennessee led 21-17 at halftime but managed only 71 yards of offense in the second half.
