Jones out, McCoy in as Giants’ QB
Quarterback Colt McCoy reportedly will start for the Giants against the Browns on Sunday night in place of the injured Daniel Jones.
Jones was limited in practice this week and listed as questionable because of hamstring and ankle injuries. The combination limited his mobility, even more than in the previous week, when he was dealing with the hamstring problem.
McCoy subsequently handled an increased workload. He led the Giants to an upset win two weeks ago over the Seahawks. Now he gets a chance to do it again on a national stage against his former team and with Freddie Kitchens ( the former Browns coach) calling plays in place of offensive coordinator Jason Garrett ( COVID- 19).
Allen out, Finley in for Bengals
Bengals quarterback Brandon Allen is out for the game Monday night against the Steelers. Ryan Finley is expected to start. Allen, 0- 3 as a starter since rookie Joe Burrow suffered a season- ending injury, hurt his knee late in last week’s loss to the Cowboys and didn’t practice this week.
The Steelers ruled out rookie left guard Kevin Dotson ( shoulder). He replaced starter Matt Feiler ( pectoral), who was lost for the season last Sunday. J. C. Hassenauer, who started two games at center earlier this season when Maurkice Pouncey was on the reserve/ COVID- 19 list, likely will take over.
Ravens’ Peters fined
The NFL fined Ravens cornerback Marcus Peters $ 12,500 for spitting at Browns wide receiver Jarvis Landry on Monday. Peters was fined for unsportsmanlike conduct despite not being penalized during the Ravens’ 47- 42 win. TV footage caught Peters spitting in Landry’s direction at the end of the first quarter. Landry had his back turned and didn’t know what Peters had done until after the game.
