-

Tommy Edman hit a two-run home run with two outs in the ninth inning for the first walk-off hit of his career, lifting the Cardinals to a 5-4 victory Saturday against the visiting Reds.

Losing pitcher Joel Kuhnel walked Dylan Carlson to lead off the ninth but got Yadier Molina to ground into a double play. Juan Yepez followed with a single before Edman reached down for a slider at the knees and drove the ball over the wall in right-center field.

Cardinals star Paul Goldschmidt went 0-for-4, ending his streak of reaching base at 46 games.

Major-league batting leader Luis Arraez hit his first career grand slam to highlight a five-run third inning that fueled the host Twins past the Rays. Arraez got at least three hits for the seventh time this season, raising his average to .367.

This and that

Former Cubs shortstop Javy Baez drew three unintentional walks in a game for the first time in his 909-game career in the Tigers’ 3-1 victory against the visiting Blue Jays.
