Rodgers’ 480 yards, four TDS carry Packers

Aaron Rodgers completed 34 of 42 passes for a career-high 480 yards and four touchdowns, and James Jones had 11 catches for a career-best 178 yards in the Green Bay Packers’ 38-20 victory Sunday against the visiting Washington Redskins.

Robert Griffin III threw for 320 yards and three touchdowns for the Redskins (0-2), but most of that came with the Packers ahead big in the second half. The Packers (1-1) led 24-0 at halftime, with Rodgers passing for 335 yards and three touchdowns in the first 30 minutes.

James Starks added 132 yards rushing and a touchdown for the Packers. He became the first Packer to run for 100 or more yards since Brandon Jackson ran for 115 on Oct. 10, 2010, against the Redskins.

Seahawks rip 49ers

Marshawn Lynch scored three touchdowns — two on the ground and one through the air — and the host Seattle Seahawks (2-0) forced five turnovers en route to a 29-3 rout of the San Francisco 49ers (1-1) in a game that was delayed for an hour by first-quarter thundersto­rms.

Colin Kaepernick was intercepte­d three times and lost a fumble for the 49ers, who were held to 207 yards of total offense.

Chargers edge Eagles

Philip Rivers (36-for-47, 419 yards) threw three touchdown passes to Eddie Royal, and Nick Novak kicked a 46-yard field goal with seven seconds left to lift the San Diego Chargers (1-1) to a 33-30 victory against the host Philadelph­ia Eagles (1-1).

Michael Vick threw for a career-high 428 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another score for the Eagles.

Rookie EJ Manuel threw a two-yard touchdown pass to Stevie Johnson with two seconds left to rally the Buffalo Bills (1-1) to a 24-23 victory against the visiting Carolina Panthers (0-2).

Rashard Mendenhall scored on a one-yard run two plays after a 31-yard passinterf­erence call to give the host Arizona Cardinals (1-1) a 25-21 victory against the Detroit Lions (1-1).

Rookie DeAndre Hopkins caught a three-yard touchdown pass from Matt Schaub in overtime to boost the Houston Texans (1-1) to a 30-24 victory against the visiting Tennessee Titans (1-1).

Garrett Hartley kicked a 27-yard field goal as time expired to lift the New Orleans Saints (2-0) to a 16-14 victory against the host Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-2).
