A couple’s parting in the U.S.A.
Miley Cyrus, Liam Hemsworth call off their engagement
As has been long expected, Miley
Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have officially — and finally — called off their engagement. As reported on my blog Sunday, Cyrus’ “unfollowing” on Twitter of the Aussie actor the day before was likely the final nail in the coffin of the dead relationship. Multiple sources close to both the former “Hannah Montana” star and the “Hunger Games” actor repeatedly have reported the duo went their own ways some time ago.
The couple were rarely seen together. In fact, their appearance on the red carpet for Hemsworth’s “Paranoia” release in August was the first professional event the two had attended together in more than a year.
A friend of Cyrus told me Monday, “Miley just realized that Liam is not ready to be a one-woman man, and may never be that kind of guy. … His roving eye and lack of true commitment were too much to overcome.”
Along those lines, there were multiple reports Hemsworth already has moved on. The Australian hunk was spotted at a Las Vegas nightclub Sunday night — joined by beautiful Mexican actress Eiza Gonzalez.
Hemsworth and Cyrus met while filming “The Last Song” back in 2009 and started a romance that led to the actor proposing in 2012, after they took a short break in August 2010. Since then, it has seemed the couple has been on an emotional rollercoaster, with regular reports of angry spats and separations.
Reportedly, neither of the stars’ families was enamored of the pairing. Miley’s father,
Billy Ray Cyrus, was said to doubt Hemsworth was the right guy for his little girl.
Guess he was right all along.
