Loyola beaten in overtime

Ryan Sypkens forced overtime by making one of his five three-pointers with one second left in regulation, and UC Davis went on to earn a 64-61 victory Saturday against Loyola in a consolatio­n game in the Portland (Ore.) State tournament.

Corey Hawkins — the son of former Bradley and NBA star Hersey Hawkins — scored 17 points and Sypkens 15, and both made timely three-pointers in overtime to fuel the Aggies (3-2) to victory.

The Ramblers (2-4) rallied from a 30-22 halftime deficit to take a 51-47 lead with 21 seconds left. But after UC Davis made two free throws to pull to 51-49, Loyola’s Jeff White split two free throws to set the stage for Sypkens’ tying basket.

Devon Turk scored 17 points, Christian Thomas 14 and White 11 for the Ramblers.

Michigan State 87, Oklahoma 76

Keith Appling scored eight of his 27 points in the last 3:04, and the No. 1 Spartans (6-0) squandered most of a 14-point halftime lead before holding off the Sooners (4-1) in the championsh­ip game of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic in New York.

Gary Harris added 21 points and Branden Dawson 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Spartans, who shot 50 percent (29-for-58) to overcome a career-high 32-point effort by Cameron Clark.

Wisconsin 76, Oral Roberts 67

Frank Kaminsky led five players in double figures with 21 points, and the No. 12 Badgers (6-0) made eight free throws in a row down the stretch to hold off the Golden Eagles (2-3) in Madison, Wis.

Josh Gasser added 15 points, Ben Brust 12, Traevon Jackson 11 and Sam Dekker 10 for Wisconsin, which scored 20 points off 14 Oral Roberts turnovers. Shawn Glover led the Golden Eagles with 24 points.
