Alabama upends No. 17 Notre Dame

Retin Obasohan scored 19 points, including the go-ahead layup with eight seconds left, and Alabama slipped past No. 17 Notre Dame 74-73 in a consolatio­n game at the AdvoCare Invitation­al on Sunday in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

Shannon Hale also scored 19 points and Art Edwards 15 for the Crimson Tide (4-2), who squandered a 13-point first-half lead before recovering to earn fifth place.

Steve Vasturia scored 18 points and Demetrius Jackson and Zach Auguste 16 each for the Irish (4-2), but Jackson missed a layup just before time ran out that would have won the game.

Michigan State 77, Providence 64

Bryn Forbes scored 18 points and Denzel Valentine 17, and the No. 3 Spartans (7-0) closed the game with a 22-7 burst to fight off the pesky Friars (6-1) in the championsh­ip game of the Wooden Legacy tournament in Fullerton, California.

Kris Dunn scored 21 points and Ben Bentil 20 for Providence, which led for most of the second half until falling victim to Michigan State’s finishing kick.

Oklahoma 65, Wisconsin 48

Ryan Spangler scored 20 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, and the No. 7 Sooners (4-0) held the Badgers (4-3) to 23.5 percent shooting on their way to an easy victory in Norman, Oklahoma.

Nigel Hayes had 20 points and 11 rebounds for Wisconsin, which shot 16-for-68 overall and 7-for-33 from three-point range.

Iowa 84, Wichita State 62

Jarrod Uthoff scored 22 points and Adam Woodbury 15, and the Hawkeyes (4-2) walloped the No. 20 Shockers (2-4) in the seventhpla­ce game of the AdvoCare Invitation­al in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
