Ciceroman tells cops hewas shot, dies at hospital

A west suburban man walked up to police officers in front of the 25th District station in Belmont Cragin early Friday and told them he’d been shot. He died about 45 minutes later.

About 1: 15 a. m., 22- year- old Courtney Copeland got out of a car in the 5500 block of West Grand Avenue and approached officers who were sitting in a squad car in front of the station, according to Chicago Police. He told them he was shot in the back. He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he died at 2: 01 a. m., according to the medical examiner’s office. Copeland lived in the 1800 block of South Austin in Cicero.
