2 seriously hurt in propane explosion

Two people were seriously injured in a propane explosion Friday in a house in the Oriole Park neighborho­od on the Northwest Side.

They were working on a home remodel about 4: 15 p. m. in the 7800 block ofWest Rascher when the gas from one of their cutting tools ignited, according to Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford. The workers, whose ages and genders were not immediatel­y known, were taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge in serious tocritical condition, Langford said. They suffered hand and face burns from a flash fire caused by the explosion as well as concussion­s from the gas, according to Fire Media Affairs.
