Age 57, of Lockport, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at his home, after a short battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Ottawa, IL, living in Lockport for over 50 years. Retired from Waste Management in January 2016 after 26 years of service. Scott enjoyed attending his grandchild­ren’s sporting events and was an avid Chicago Blackhawks fan.

Preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Wyllene Koetz; his brothers, Jerry and Kyle Koetz; a sister, Kim Baker and his father- in- law, Harold Kranz.

Survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Penny ( Kranz); a daughter, Daniela ( William, Jr.) Matiasek; a son, Joshua Koetz; five grandchild­ren, Joshua Destefano, Kyle and Ryan Koetz and Paige and Alyvia Matiasek; a brother, Trevan ( Betsey) Koetz; his mother- in- law, Shirley Kranz; his dear friend from Waste Management, Rich; numerous brothers- in- law, sisters- in- law, aunts, uncles nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends also survive.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Shorewood Hugs in Honor of Kyle Koetz, 1147 Brook Forest Ave., Shorewood, IL 60404, would be appreciate­d.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 5, 2016, 4: 00 p. m. in the O’NEIL FUNERAL HOME

CHAPEL, 1105 E. 9th St. ( 159th St.), Lockport with Deacon Kevin Ryan officiatin­g. Visitation TODAY Saturday from 12: 00 noon until time of services at 4: 00 p. m. Per Scott’s wishes, cremation rites will be respectful­ly addressed after services. Scott’s final request is that all of his family and friends, to please wear Blackhawks attire while attending his services.
