Age 57, of Lock­port, passed away peace­fully Wed­nes­day, March 2, 2016 at his home, af­ter a short bat­tle with can­cer, sur­rounded by his lov­ing fam­ily. He was born in Ottawa, IL, liv­ing in Lock­port for over 50 years. Re­tired from Waste Man­age­ment in Jan­uary 2016 af­ter 26 years of ser­vice. Scott en­joyed at­tend­ing his grand­chil­dren’s sport­ing events and was an avid Chicago Black­hawks fan.

Pre­ceded in death by his par­ents, Ger­ald and Wyl­lene Koetz; his brothers, Jerry and Kyle Koetz; a sis­ter, Kim Baker and his father- in- law, Harold Kranz.

Sur­vived by his lov­ing wife of 35 years, Penny ( Kranz); a daugh­ter, Daniela ( Wil­liam, Jr.) Ma­ti­asek; a son, Joshua Koetz; five grand­chil­dren, Joshua Deste­fano, Kyle and Ryan Koetz and Paige and Alyvia Ma­ti­asek; a brother, Tre­van ( Bet­sey) Koetz; his mother- in- law, Shirley Kranz; his dear friend from Waste Man­age­ment, Rich; nu­mer­ous brothers- in- law, sis­ters- in- law, aunts, un­cles nieces, neph­ews, cousins and many friends also sur­vive.

In lieu of flow­ers, memo­ri­als to Shore­wood Hugs in Honor of Kyle Koetz, 1147 Brook For­est Ave., Shore­wood, IL 60404, would be ap­pre­ci­ated.

Fu­neral ser­vices will be held Satur­day, March 5, 2016, 4: 00 p. m. in the O’NEIL FU­NERAL HOME

CHAPEL, 1105 E. 9th St. ( 159th St.), Lock­port with Dea­con Kevin Ryan of­fi­ci­at­ing. Visi­ta­tion TO­DAY Satur­day from 12: 00 noon un­til time of ser­vices at 4: 00 p. m. Per Scott’s wishes, cre­ma­tion rites will be re­spect­fully ad­dressed af­ter ser­vices. Scott’s fi­nal re­quest is that all of his fam­ily and friends, to please wear Black­hawks at­tire while at­tend­ing his ser­vices.
