Shockers end Loyola’s season

Ron Baker hit five threepoint­ers and scored 25 points to lead league champion Wichita State ( 24- 7) to a 66- 58 win over eighth- seeded Loyola in a Missouri Valley Conference quarterfin­al Friday in St. Louis.

The Ramblers ( 15- 17), who trailed 30- 21 at the half against a team that beat them by 26 and 22 during the season, were up 52- 45 before a three by Baker started a game- winning 17- 3 run. Devon Turk had 16 points for the Ramblers, who made just one of their last nine shots.

Southern Illinois ( 22- 10) and Illinois State ( 18- 14) also lost their quarterfin­al games.

Aaric Armstead scored 14 points and Levi Bradley added 13 to lift Northern Illinois ( 20- 11, 9- 9 MAC) to a 80- 69 win over visiting Ball State ( 19- 12, 10- 8).

Lillard goes off for 50

Damien Lillard scored 50, but the visiting Trail Blazers fell to the Raptors 117- 115. For Toronto, DeMar DeRozan had 38 points, including 24 of 25 from the free- throw line, and Kyle Lowry added 28.

Kevin Love got the night off, but Kyrie Irving scored 21 points and LeBron James added 19 to lead the Cavaliers to a 108- 83 win over the visiting Wizards.

The Rockets signed free- agent forward Michael Beasley, who was averaging 31.9 points in the Chinese Basketball League.

Suggs arrested

Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs was arrested in Scottsdale, Arizona, on a suspended driver’s license after investigat­ors say his BMW hit a curb.

Browns linebacker Armonty Bryant has been suspended for the first four games of 2016 for violating the league’s policy on performanc­eenhancing substances.
