Shock­ers end Loyola’s sea­son

Ron Baker hit five three­p­oint­ers and scored 25 points to lead league cham­pion Wi­chita State ( 24- 7) to a 66- 58 win over eighth- seeded Loyola in a Mis­souri Val­ley Con­fer­ence quar­ter­fi­nal Fri­day in St. Louis.

The Ram­blers ( 15- 17), who trailed 30- 21 at the half against a team that beat them by 26 and 22 dur­ing the sea­son, were up 52- 45 be­fore a three by Baker started a game- win­ning 17- 3 run. Devon Turk had 16 points for the Ram­blers, who made just one of their last nine shots.

South­ern Illinois ( 22- 10) and Illinois State ( 18- 14) also lost their quar­ter­fi­nal games.

Aaric Arm­stead scored 14 points and Levi Bradley added 13 to lift North­ern Illinois ( 20- 11, 9- 9 MAC) to a 80- 69 win over vis­it­ing Ball State ( 19- 12, 10- 8).

Lil­lard goes off for 50

Damien Lil­lard scored 50, but the vis­it­ing Trail Blaz­ers fell to the Rap­tors 117- 115. For Toronto, DeMar DeRozan had 38 points, in­clud­ing 24 of 25 from the free- throw line, and Kyle Lowry added 28.

Kevin Love got the night off, but Kyrie Irv­ing scored 21 points and LeBron James added 19 to lead the Cava­liers to a 108- 83 win over the vis­it­ing Wizards.

The Rock­ets signed free- agent for­ward Michael Beasley, who was av­er­ag­ing 31.9 points in the Chi­nese Bas­ket­ball League.

Suggs ar­rested

Ravens linebacker Ter­rell Suggs was ar­rested in Scotts­dale, Ari­zona, on a sus­pended driver’s li­cense af­ter in­ves­ti­ga­tors say his BMW hit a curb.

Browns linebacker Ar­monty Bryant has been sus­pended for the first four games of 2016 for vi­o­lat­ing the league’s pol­icy on per­for­manceen­hanc­ing sub­stances.
