UNITED CON­TI­NEN­TAL’S CEO MUNOZ WILL RE­TURN

United Con­ti­nen­tal Hold­ings said Sun­day that CEO Os­car Munoz will re­turn to work full­time on March 14 af­ter suf­fer­ing a heart at­tack in Oc­to­ber and un­der­go­ing a heart trans­plant in early Jan­uary. Munoz, will re­sume all of his du­ties at that time, the com­pany said. He has al­ready been par­tic­i­pat­ing ac­tively in all ma­jor cor­po­rate de­ci­sions and meet­ing fre­quently with em­ploy­ees, share­hold­ers, and other stake­hold­ers dur­ing his re­cov­ery, the com­pany said. He made a sur­prise ap­pear­ance on the com­pany’s fourth- quar­ter earn­ings con­fer­ence call in Jan­uary. Munoz stepped into the air­line’s most se­nior role in Septem­ber af­ter pre­vi­ous CEO, Jeff Smisek, was ousted in the midst of an in­quiry into cor­rup­tion. Munoz took of­fice af­ter a pe­riod of chronic de­lays and com­puter is­sues for the air­line.
