Thibodeau mum on offering Dunn to Bulls in draft
LAS VEGAS — Tom Thibodeau doesn’t concern himself with the Bulls these days.
“They got great players,’’ Thibodeau said Sunday of his former team, which added Rajon
Rondo and Dwyane Wade. “They’re a terrific team, so those players they have, what they’ve done, speaks for itself.’’
Thibodeau is more concerned with the Timberwolves, who hired him as coach and president of basketball operations in April. Thibodeau didn’t want to get into the rumors surrounding firstround pick Kris Dunn, whom the team reportedly was dangling in front of the Bulls on draft day, but he did say “we were glad he fell to us [ at No. 5].’’
Dunn has been the talk of the Summer League, averaging 24 points in his first two games and looking more than ready for the NBA.
Heading into the draft last month, the Bulls were rumored to be talking to the Celtics, who had the No. 3 pick, in hopes of grabbing Dunn before he slid to Thibodeau.
Summer fun
The Bulls improved to 2- 0 in Summer League play, beating the 76ers 83- 70.
Cristiano Felicio led the Bulls with 17 points, and first- round pick Denzel Valentine had 13. He also shot 2- for- 5 from three- point range after going 0- for- 9 in the first game. Coach Fred Hoiberg worked with Valentine on the release of his three- point shot during the morning shootaround.
No. 1 overall pick Ben Simmons led the Sixers with 18 points.
