CONVENTIONAL WISDOM
What to watch for Thursday
TAMMY TAKES THE STAGE:
Rep. Tammy Duckworth had a lot to say about Republican Sen. Mark Kirk during Wednesday’s Illinois delegation breakfast, taking jabs at her rival for the U.S. Senate seat. She must have been getting it out of her system. When she takes the convention stage on Thursday, Duckworth is planning to focus on the deep contrast between the Democratic and Republican parties. She may not even utter Kirk’s name.
FOXX NEWS:
Kim Foxx, Democratic nominee for Cook County state’s attorney, will speak at the Illinois delegation breakfast on Thursday. Thursday also marks Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s first appearance at the breakfast. That comes just hours after his late-night Wednesday bash — which ends at 2 a.m. Thursday. Wonder if anyone will be wearing sunglasses to the breakfast.
HEARING HILLARY:
Hillary Clinton will accept the nomination for president on Thursday night. She’ll be introduced by daughter Chelsea, who watched with pride Tuesday as her ex-prez dad talked about the joys of parenthood — and an apparent “Police Academy” marathon. It’ll be up to Chelsea to continue to show her mother’s personal side.
