Fitzpatrick, Jets finally strike deal
Multiple outlets reported the New York Jets and quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick finally ended their five-month stalemate and agreed to terms Wednesday — the day before their first practice — on a one-year, $12 million contract that includes the possibility of $3 million more in incentives.
The Jets reportedly increased their offer from $8 million to $12 million and gave Fitzpatrick, 33, a deadline to accept it. He completed 59.6 percent of his passes for 3,905 yards with 31 touchdowns and 15 interceptions last season.
The Los Angeles Rams released quarterback Nick Foles after failing to find a trade destination for him.
Foles hasn’t been around the Rams since they traded up to choose California quarterback Jared Goff with the No. 1 pick in the draft this spring. He skipped offseason workouts while the Rams tried to trade him, but they finally released him without compensation after teams likely realized they could try to sign Foles as a free agent.
