Hurricanes give coach extension

The Carolina Hurricanes signed coach Bill Peters to a two-year contract extension through the 2018-19 season. Financial terms weren’t disclosed. Peters has guided the Hurricanes to a 65-72-27 record in two seasons, but they were 35-31-16 for 86 points — their most in five seasons — in 2015-16.
