Strasburg on DL with sore elbow

The Washington Nationals put right- hander Stephen Strasburg on the 15- day disabled list Monday with soreness in his pitching elbow.

Strasburg, who started the season 15- 1, is 0- 3 with a 14.66 ERA in his last three starts. He pitched 4⅔, 5⅓ and 1⅔ innings in those games, and opponents batted .414 against him.

The Nationals recalled righthande­r A. J. Cole from Class AAA to make Strasburg’s scheduled start against the host Baltimore Orioles. Cole allowed four runs and five hits and struck out eight in seven innings in the Nationals’ 4- 3 loss.

Dodgers looking to deal Puig

Multiple outlets reported the Los Angeles Dodgers actively are shopping enigmatic outfielder Yasiel Puig before the waiver trade deadline Aug. 31.

After failing to trade Puig before the non- waiver deadline Aug. 1, the Dodgers sent him to Class AAA Oklahoma City, where he is hitting .418 with a 1.201 OPS in 55 at- bats.

The Dodgers reportedly are hoping Puig’s strong production in the minors is enhancing his value before the deadline next week.

Teammates come to blows

The San Francisco Chronicle reported Oakland Athletics designated hitter Billy Butler is on the seven- day concussion left after being hit in the temple by teammate Danny Valencia in a clubhouse fight Friday stemming from comments Butler allegedly made about Valencia to an equipment representa­tive.

Dodgers 18, Reds 9

Adrian Gonzalez hit three of the visiting Dodgers’ seven home runs — their most since 2006 — and drove in a career- high eight runs in an 18- 9 victory against the Cincinnati Reds.
