Balanced Sky reach WNBA semifinals

Courtney Vandersloo­t scored 21 points and handed out 13 assists, Jessica Breland had 20 points and 16 rebounds and the Sky defeated the Atlanta Dream 108- 98 on Sunday at Allstate Arena to advance to the semifinals of the WNBA playoffs.

Tamera Young and Cappie Pondexter added 16 points apiece for the Sky, who played their sixth consecutiv­e game without Elena Delle Donne ( thumb) but set a season high for points and will play the Los Angeles Sparks in a best- of- five semifinal.

HOCKEY Team Europe advances to World Cup title series

Tomas Tatar scored his second goal of the game 3: 43 into overtime to lift Team Europe to a 3- 2 victory against Sweden in the semifinals of the World Cup of Hockey in Toronto. Marian Gaborik also scored for Team Europe, which will play Canada in a best- of- three championsh­ip series starting Tuesday. Erik Karlsson and Nicklas Backstrom scored for Sweden.

MLB Dodgers clinch NL West in Scully’s home finale

The Los Angeles Dodgers won the National League West when Charlie Culberson hit a home run with two outs in the 10th inning to beat the visiting Colorado Rockies 4- 3 in the final home game of Dodgers legend Vin Scully’s 67- year broadcasti­ng career.

Asdrubal Cabrera hit a grand slam, Jose Reyes drove in four runs and the host New York Mets used 14 hits, nine walks and four hit basemen to annihilate the Philadelph­ia Phillies 17- 0 and take sole possession of first place in the NL wild- card race.

Wil Myers singled home the tiebreakin­g run in the seventh inning to boost the San Diego Padres past the visiting San Francisco Giants, who stayed a half- game ahead of the St. Louis Cardinals in the battle for the second wild- card spot in the NL.

AUTO RACING Harvick punches ticket to 2nd round of Chase

Kevin Harvick pulled away on a restart with six laps left to win the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race in Loudon, New Hampshire, by .442 seconds over Matt Kenseth. The victory assures Harvick of advancing to the second round of the Chase for the Sprint Cup championsh­ip.

RUNNING Chicago Half- Marathon, Life Time 5K winners

Alan Peterson ( men) and Jamie Hershfang ( women) won the Chicago Half- Marathon, and Daniel Lindbloom ( men) and Hannah Schaap ( women) captured the Life Time 5K on the South Side.
