Rose facing probe into rape allegations

-

A criminal investigation is underway into rape allegations made last year against former Bulls star Derrick Rose, according to published reports. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the investigation to the New York Daily News.

‘‘ I’m innocent,’’ Rose said Monday at the New York Knicks’ media day, the Daily News reported. ‘‘ I felt like I didn’t do anything wrong.’’ Rose said he hadn’t been contacted by police. Asked at Bulls media day whether the team looked into the allegations when they were made, vice president of basketball operations John Paxson said: ‘‘ We did not. . . . We knew what everyone else knew. We didn’t do anything beyond that. These are legal matters. It’s not our purview.’’

A civil case seeking $ 21.5 million from Rose and two others is set to go to trial Oct. 4. A 30- year- old woman originally filed a lawsuit in August 2015, accusing Rose and two other men of breaking into her apartment in Los Angeles and raping her in 2013.

Heat president Pat Riley said the team is essentially out of options with Bosh, 32, especially after he failed a physical last week and wasn’t able to get cleared by doctors to get back on the floor. Bosh’s last two seasons have been cut short by blood clots.
