Bears rushing offense vs Lions run defense

-

Against a mediocre Cowboys defense, the Bears did get a 36- yard run from Jordan Howard and a 23- yard run from Jeremy Langford. However, take out those two carries and the duo combined for 17 yards on 10 carries. Langford is battling an ankle sprain, which opens the door for Howard to be the lead back on Sunday vs. Detroit. That’s good news for those who have been clamoring for more of the rookie, and the offensive line is going to continue to improve. The Lions let Eddie Lacy rumble for 103 yards on 17 carries last week ( 6.1- yard average) and are last in the league, allowing 5.1 yards a tote. Detroit struggles most against runs off right tackle and up the middle, where the Bears should thrive. This a matchup the Bears have to win if they want to get their first victory. As obvious as that sounds, it wasn’t the game plan in September. It’s time to feature Howard and take advantage of a weak Lions front, especially if Detroit is without linebacker DeAndre Levy. It’s not a huge advantage for the Bears, but enough for Sunday.
